Thanks to our fabulous friends Carey and Swanney, Russ and I got to spend a few days at the Outerbanks this past week helping them celebrate their 1 year anniversary. Congrats you guys!! We also used it as our "babymoon"... for all those who don't know (I didn't until recently), a babymoon is your last getaway before baby arrives...a new trend I guess. Anyway, we had a great time and wanted to share some of the beautiful views of the Outerbanks. The first pic is of us on the ferry ride, the second is a beautiful sunset we saw our first night on Cedar Island, and the third is of the Avon Pier near our beach house. The pier has fallen down and been rebuilt in so many places from hurricanes that it looks like a roller coaster with dips and hills when you are walking down. Russ was much braver than I :)...I only made it about 1/2 way down and then the sway of the pier was too much :) Getting to the Outerbanks is an adventure but definitely worthwhile.

30 Weeks...
Here's what's happening this week! He's getting so big!
Your baby is 16 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds. A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds him, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and takes up more room. His eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after he's born, he'll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means he can only make out objects a few inches from his face.

What's happing at 28 weeks!
Your pregnancy: 28 weeks
By this week, the baby weighs two and a quarter pounds and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels. He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through mom's stomach. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world.
